NBA Players and Volunteers Give Back in Charlotte’s Renaissance West Community

As part of NBA All-Star 2019 Charlotte Weekend, the NBA took time off the court to support local youth, families and organizations through grassroots efforts as players, league executives and other volunteers participated in more than 35 service projects across our community.

During the festivities, United Way of Central Carolinas organized and led projects at Little Rock Apartments as part of NBA Cares All-Star Day of Service.

Volunteers refurbished community spaces, painted murals and built and unveiled a playground and computer lab, while others packed wellness items, school supplies and baby kits for youth and families at the nearby Southview Recreation Center  – all as part of our neighborhood revitalization efforts in the Renaissance West area.

With the level of participation and commitment from the athletes and volunteers, this special event not only provided valuable assistance to United Way partner organizations, but also helped improve the quality of life for children and neighbors in our community.
