Convening Local Leaders Through Women United

Inspired to create greater impact in our community, in March of this year Women United‘s membership committee began convening members of local women’s business resource groups and various women’s initiatives.

The goal of the quarterly Women United Women’s Initiatives Leads meetings is to bring together more women in the community to connect, elevate their voices, provide mentorship opportunities and leave a legacy of impact and volunteerism.

“This group gets together to discuss best practices and key learnings in how they have developed their women’s resource groups at their respective organizations, and share how they work to better empower and inspire women in their workplace every day,” said Samantha Kowert, director of major gifts campaign strategy and operations and a staff lead with Women United.

Leaders from companies like Atrium Health, Bank of America, Coca Cola, Ingersoll Rand, Novant Health, PwC and Wells Fargo, among others, have gathered for the meetings.

“The leaders have really enjoyed coming together; they can connect and learn from other companies that they normally wouldn’t have a chance to meet with,” said Adelaide Belk, assistant vice president, community impact and special initiatives at United Way and a staff lead with Women United.

Women United members create a legacy of impact in the Charlotte region and work to inspire women to learn about, support and engage in the work of United Way of Central Carolinas.
