Roadmap to the Unexpected

Brody was born with a one-of-a-kind chromosomal defect – literally, one that has never been seen before.  There was no roadmap for how to help him. His mother, Jessie, felt isolated, believing there was no one in the world who could understand what their family was going through. Then, she turned to United Way.

Through United Way, The ARC of Union County provides assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities. They helped the Lindberg family with needs such as speech therapy and integrating into society. Brody’s parents were also able to find the support they needed through Circle of Parents, a parent-led and professionally facilitated parent support group program that gives parents the opportunity to share in each other’s challenges and successes.

“We are incredibly thankful for how United Way continued to help us find the solution that best fits our son’s needs,” stated Tregg, Brody’s father. “The ARC of Union County has brought so much hope into, what at first seemed like, a very dark situation.”

United Way is moving the needle on community-wide issues such as graduation and homelessness. But we’re also committed to helping all our neighbors, one person at a time.
