United Way shifts strategy in Charlotte, cuts grants by 10%
United Way reduced grants, in part, to get away from a decade of tapping reserve funds. Throughout the recession and up to the present, the nonprofit has boosted its grant program by $2.5 million to $3.5 million annually to make up for lost donations.
