Get Involved: Board Member Training and Speed-Networking with Nonprofits
As a community convener, United Way of Greater Charlotte brings together key stakeholders, community leaders, nonprofit partners and residents across the city through our initiatives to create a larger, lasting impact in the community.
Through our initiatives, we strengthen our community by elevating resident’s needs and connecting volunteers with opportunities to serve. This fall, we are hosting events that pair volunteers with local nonprofits and offer board training to equip those volunteers with the skills and knowledge needed to make a lasting impact.
The Nonprofit Board Member Training explores the roles and responsibilities of nonprofit board service through the lens of equity and an examination of how the nonprofit board members can shape their organizations for the benefit of everyone in their communities. Whether you are serving on boards currently or want to serve on a board in the future, you will benefit from these training sessions. The first session is Thursday, September 26 and the second session will be Wednesday, January 29.
In addition to the Board Training sessions, volunteers can attend Mission Connection, a speed-networking event that allows potential board members to meet and share their knowledge and expertise with grassroots nonprofits. This event will pair local nonprofits with local business experts who would like to serve as board members.
By attending Mission Connection, you can meet directly with nonprofits and find yourself on a new board of directors, and by attending Nonprofit Board Member Training sessions, you will learn how to better serve the nonprofits that you are engaging with in the community.
These events are designed to benefit everyone involved and ultimately lead to better collaboration and innovation in the nonprofit space.
Register today and get ready to come together for the greater good in greater Charlotte.
