Unite Charlotte funding cycle
United Way of Greater Charlotte is pleased to announce the upcoming Unite Charlotte funding cycle, opening Friday, September 11, 2026.
United Way’s Unite Charlotte strategy continues to evolve to strengthen grassroots nonprofits for the realities they face today. By concentrating resources in a more intentional way, we can help build the resilience, leadership capacity, and sustainability organizations need to continue serving Charlotte-Mecklenburg residents for years to come.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for Unite Charlotte funding, an organization must:
- Have an annual operating budget between $500,000 and $2 million.
- Have been in continuous operation for at least three (3) years as of the application deadline.
- – Be a nonprofit organization with current IRS 501(c)(3) status.
- – Serve residents of Mecklenburg County.
- – Demonstrate that agency leadership’s backgrounds and experiences align with the community served.
- – Provide services without regard to race, sex, education, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, religion, ability or disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, country of origin, first language, marital status, or citizenship status.
- – Not proselytize, directly or indirectly, on behalf of any religious faith, doctrine, or belief.
- – Successfully complete United Way of Greater Charlotte’s Financial Certification process.
Required Documents
Applicants must also submit and upload the following documents as part of the application process:
- A current strategic plan, organizational plan, or written organizational priorities.
- Board meeting minutes from the organization’s three most recent board meetings.
The Unite Charlotte funding cycle will remain open for two weeks, closing on Friday, September 25, 2026. Additional information about the application process, requirements, and submission timeline will be available on our website when the Letter of Interest opens.
