Promotion of Niambi Goings to Vice President of Community Impact

United Way of Greater Charlotte is pleased to announce the promotion of Niambi Goings to Vice President of Community Impact.

In this expanded leadership role, Niambi will help inform and execute United Way’s community impact strategy, including community-centered approaches, grantmaking, partnerships and initiatives focused on advancing economic mobility and strengthening communities across the Charlotte region.

“Niambi brings a deep understanding of our community, a collaborative spirit and a commitment to ensuring residents and partners are at the center of our work,” said Kathryn Firmin-Sellers, President and CEO of United Way of Greater Charlotte. “Her leadership will help us continue building stronger partnerships and advancing solutions that create meaningful, lasting change.”

Niambi joined United Way in December 2025 as Director of Community Initiatives. In that role, she worked alongside nonprofit partners, community leaders, funders and residents to advance collaborative solutions to complex community challenges. As Vice President, she will build on that work while helping provide strategic leadership for United Way’s broader community impact efforts.

Prior to joining United Way, Niambi served as Executive Director of the historic McCrorey Family YMCA, providing strategic and operational leadership for one of Charlotte’s most storied community institutions. She also served with the Mecklenburg County Public Health Department, where she coordinated the regional implementation of the Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) and supported efforts focused on equity, diversity and trauma-informed practice.

Niambi holds a master’s degree in Youth, Family, and Community Sciences from NC State University, along with graduate certificates in Volunteer and Leadership Management and Family Life Education and Coaching.

Throughout her career, Niambi has focused on bringing people and organizations together to strengthen communities and create opportunities for individuals and families to thrive. Her promotion reflects United Way’s continued commitment to community-centered leadership and collaborative solutions that help build stronger neighbors, stronger neighborhoods and stronger communities, together.
