United Way Appoints Interim President And CEO
I am pleased to share with you that the United Way of Greater Charlotte Board of Directors has appointed Dr. Kathryn Firmin-Sellers as the interim President and CEO, effective July 1.
Kathryn has been with United Way for a collective eight years and is highly regarded in the Charlotte community as a top nonprofit leader. As executive vice-president and chief impact officer, she leads our community impact strategy, focusing on advancing economic mobility and racial equity across all United Way initiatives. Kathryn’s dedication and leadership are truly inspiring.
Kathryn will succeed Laura Yates Clark, who, after a collective 12 years of dedicated service, will resign as President & CEO on June 30. Laura will be taking on the role of President with our esteemed community partner, Foundation For The Carolinas. We are deeply grateful for Laura’s exceptional leadership and contributions over the years.
To ensure a smooth transition and the continued success of our organization, the Transition and Search Committee, led by United Way board vice-chair Bill Currens, has been established. This diverse group, comprised of board members, staff, and community partners, will oversee the selection of the next permanent President & CEO of United Way of Greater Charlotte. The Committee is conducting a national search and aims to retain an Executive Search Firm by July 31. Requests for Proposals have been distributed to potential firms.
Our goal is to complete a robust and thorough search and selection process, with the intention of hiring a permanent CEO by the end of 2024.
We appreciate your continued support and partnership during this transition period.
Sincerely,
Raj Natarajan, Board Chair,
United Way of Greater Charlotte
