Mental Health Awareness Month: Community, Collaboration and Commitment
May marks Mental Health Awareness Month – a time to spark important conversations, lift community voices and champion the belief that mental wellness is for all. Here in Cabarrus County, we are proud to celebrate not just awareness, but real action and impact.
Through the Wellness Collaborative, a growing group of passionate organizations – including Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Carolinas, El Puente Hispano, Girl Scouts Hornets’ Nest Council, Mental Health America of Central Carolinas, The S.T.U.D.I.O. and now the Boys & Girls Club of Cabarrus County – are working hand-in-hand to build a future where mental health support is accessible, proactive and rooted in collaboration and community care.
The Wellness Initiative in Cabarrus County is being powered even further by United Way of Greater Charlotte’s strategic investment into two more incredible organizations, NAMI Cabarrus and The Big E Life Changers.
NAMI Cabarrus provides critical peer-led education, advocacy, and support groups, helping individuals and families navigate mental health challenges with strength and community.
The Big E creates safe, empowering spaces for young people to focus on wellness, build resilience and thrive socially, emotionally and mentally.
Together, these organizations are strengthening the network of care available to residents across Cabarrus County, making sure no one faces their mental health journey alone.
As we recognize Mental Health Awareness Month, we also recognize that mental wellness is a year-round commitment. We are grateful to every partner, resident and supporter who continues to invest in a healthier, more connected Cabarrus County.
