Hands On Charlotte
United Way’s Hands On Charlotte makes it easy to participate in activities in our community focused around tutoring, math and reading.
From serving as a reading buddy to coordinating structured youth activities, choose from projects based on your interest at times that are convenient to you.
Tutor Charlotte
Tutor Charlotte is a joint initiative of United Way, Read Charlotte, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and others to provide high-quality reading and math tutoring for children.

Augustine Literacy Project
Augustine Literacy Project offers robust tutoring focused on improving the reading, spelling and writing skills of children in first, second and third grades, with the greatest needs in under-resourced communities.

Heart Math Tutoring
Heart Math Tutoring coordinates a math intervention program that recruits, trains and supports volunteers as tutors in high-poverty elementary schools in Charlotte.

HELPS (Helping Early Literacy with Practice Strategies) Tutoring
HELPS provides a literacy intervention program to improve children’s fluency and reading comprehension skills.
