“The really neat part of Child Care Resources’ fundraising campaign for United Way was how they used it to celebrate themselves,” said Brittenay Causieestko-Lee, United Way’s community impact manager. “They know that CCRI is vital to United Way’s mission, and vice versa, and they advocate for United Way so well.”
CCRI recently won the Spirit of North Carolina award in the nonprofit category (51-100 employees), a statewide honor that recognizes organizations for embracing a united spirit of giving and volunteering that extends beyond the traditional United Way campaign.
CCRI works to ensure that all children have access to high-quality, affordable preschool and other early learning opportunities, regardless of ability to pay. Their staff is spread throughout the community daily, so they used their United Way campaign as an opportunity to engage with one another.
During one campaign event, a CCRI employee told of a random grocery store encounter when a mother told her that CCRI enabled her “to be the parent she wanted to be” in providing for her children academically, thanks to United Way’s support. Others read passionate testimonials that clients had shared about the impact of CCRI’s work.
United Way could not fulfill its goal of helping our community’s children succeed in school without fantastic agencies like CCRI – we’re grateful for their partnership!
