How United Way Can Help You Keep Your New Year’s Resolutions

For many people, New Year’s resolutions are an opportunity to resolve to make changes, accomplish goals and improve lives.

Need a little inspiration for some great 2019 resolutions to keep?

Whether you’re looking to get more involved, grow your network or build a deeper connection with your neighbors and community, United Way of Central Carolinas can help!

I Want To…Volunteer More

United Way’s Hands On Charlotte connects hundreds of people of all ages to volunteer opportunities, making it easy for individuals, families and groups to get involved across our region.

Projects cover United Way’s five-county footprint and range from recurring opportunities like sorting donations, tutoring children and landscaping to larger community-wide days of service like United Way’s MLK Call to Service.

With flexible options for individuals, families with young children and senior adults, as well as companies and other groups, volunteers can choose projects based on their interests and that fit their schedules. Throughout the year, Hands On Charlotte also hosts orientations for new volunteers and trainings for seasoned volunteers looking to fill project leadership roles.

I Want To…Expand My Network

Meet new people, attend meaningful events and start making a bigger difference in our community by joining one of United Way’s engagement groups – A-LIST, Women United and Young Leaders.

One of the things that makes United Way of Central Carolinas’ engagement groups so unique is their focus on going beyond traditional professional events to bring people together to support the community.

Whether focusing on workforce development, early childhood or health, members of A-LIST, Women United and Young Leaders are unified in their fight to make a positive impact for our neighbors and build stronger community ties.

I Want To…Foster Personal Growth

United Way works every day to give people in our community the tools and resources they need to be successful in their homes, businesses and neighborhoods.

Through the United Way Learning Network, we offer a series of workshops and training events to help volunteers, grassroots nonprofits and community members learn essential skills to maximize their impact.

Opportunities include sessions offered by Tutor Charlotte like preparing tutors and mentors to better work with students, and other Learning Network sessions like Nonprofit 101 that help small organizations increase knowledge and capacity.

I Want To…Give Back

When you donate to United Way, you are investing in your community. In your town. In your neighborhood. Your gift makes a real difference in the lives of people living right here – during the holidays as well as year-round.

Choose what your gift supports – United Way initiatives like United Neighborhoods and Unite Charlotte; projects through Hands On Charlotte; impact grants that support our network of more than 110 partners across our five-county region; or other causes and programs.

Your investment helps children succeed in school, adults thrive at work and people of all ages live healthy, happy lives.
