Volunteers unite for annual Cabarrus County Week of Caring

Hundreds of volunteers united for a fun-filled week of service projects Aug. 27-31 to help local organizations as part of United Way of Central Carolinas’ Cabarrus County Week of Caring.

 

The annual volunteer week demonstrates the power of people coming together to make a difference in our community. The event serves as part of the launch for United Way’s campaign season and kicked off with a breakfast at the Boys and Girls Club of Cabarrus County.

 

Throughout the week, volunteers from companies and groups including Atrium Health, Novant Health, Allen Tate Realtors and the City of Concord Transportation Department, among others, participated in nearly 20 different projects across Cabarrus County. Tasks involved delivering meals to homebound residents, tutoring students needing homework help, organizing cubbies for afterschool programs, washing activity buses and vehicles and assembling more than 400 snack packs for students.

 

United Way has 24 community partners in Cabarrus County focused on improving the education, health and financial stability of every person in the community. These organizations rely heavily on volunteer support to accomplish their missions.

 

Community partners that benefited from volunteer projects included the Boys and Girls Club of Cabarrus County, Academic Learning Center, Cooperative Christian Ministry, Coltrane LIFE Center, Cabarrus Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity Cabarrus County, American Red Cross, Girl Scouts and Community Free Clinic.

 

We are fortunate in Cabarrus County to have so many dedicated and engaged people that support our community through United Way. The countless volunteers over the years who continue to give their time, talents and commitment truly strengthen our community and make it a great place for all to live.
