TIAA’s 100 Days of Difference has big impact

Volunteerism with corporate partners helps United Way of Central Carolinas in its fight for the education, health and financial stability of every person in our community.

United Way’s well-established relationship with TIAA includes volunteer engagement programs that bring solutions to complex social issues in the Charlotte region.

This year, TIAA held its 100 Days of Difference campaign from March 5 through June 12 as part of the company’s centennial anniversary.

The campaign highlighted TIAA’s ongoing commitment to addressing education, hunger and education needs in communities across the nation where the company has a footprint, including Charlotte.

Jarian Kerekes, TIAA’s Senior Director of Corporate Social Responsibility, said TIAA and employee volunteers are incredibly humbled by the work and impact that took place in collaboration with United Way during the 100 Days of Difference.

Of the 120-plus projects in Charlotte during the 100-day period, 35 directly supported United Way partner agencies.

From building more than 60 Tiny Libraries around Charlotte, packing about 2,400 hygiene kits for local distribution and funding a playground build at Mallard Creek Elementary, TIAA employees were busy volunteering to improve lives in their own backyard. These projects and other educational engagement events for employees were facilitated by United Way’s Hands On Charlotte team.

Beyond the 100 Days of Difference, TIAA’s year-round partnership with United Way provides sponsorship, event and volunteer opportunities for employees to give back throughout the year in Charlotte.

This past spring, TIAA was the presenting sponsor of United Way’s Hands On Charlotte Day on and sponsored the  Young Leaders Community Kickoff.

“We are grateful for the relationship with UWCC and their Hands On Charlotte team,” Kerekes said. “They allow our team to manage multiple projects at various sites in our region which allow us to maximize our impact and reach. We look forward to continuing this great work together in 2018 and beyond.”

Thanks to TIAA for continuously engaging its employees in projects that make a difference in the community.
