Why We’re Thankful for Bank of America

We had fun saying thanks, but we also wanted to expand on why we’re so grateful for their support.

In mid-March, United Way of Central Carolinas joined hundreds of United Ways across the country in thanking Bank of America on social media, with posts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

Last year alone, Bank of America teams completed 32 volunteer projects with 716 volunteers contributing 1,646 hours – and that’s just their work through United Way of Central Carolinas. From assembling tricycles as holiday gifts, to putting together snack packs for children in afterschool programs, to packing hygiene kits for the homeless, Bank of America has continually given back through our teambuilding volunteerism more than any other company.

They also provide incredible leadership. At least one Bank of America senior executive has served on our 24-member board of directors for as long as the current board format has existed, along with multiple executives on our campaign cabinet, community investment councils, Legacy foundation, and more.

Most significantly, the bank has been the No. 1 or No. 2 donor to this United Way for decades, through employee giving, generous corporate gifts, and the creation of the HiTech Shootout – the largest golf fundraiser for any United Way in the country.

Beyond funding our traditional campaign, they’re also supporting some of our most innovative work geared toward driving economic opportunity – for example, they were the first company to commit funding to our forthcoming Tutor Charlotte initiative.

We’re so grateful for Bank of America’s generosity and leadership!
